Kelly Crosby is a mixed media artist from New Orleans, Louisiana. Kelly’s moto is “I love color! I’ve have to have color in my life!” She creates artwork in a variety of styles but the ones that intrigue her are abstractions, still life studies, and floral patterns. Her work is heavily influenced by her love of international travel. She loves to incorporate what she calls a “global aesthetic” by using patterns and designs found in Middle East, South Asian and West African cultures. She often incorporates intricate patterns, unconventional colors and repetition to create art that’s playful, bold and evocative. Her love of the arts pushed her to pursue her bachelors and masters of arts degrees from the University of New Orleans (Fine Arts in 2002, Arts Administration 2007). Kelly Crosby has displayed her artwork in various art shows and conferences throughout New Orleans and Atlanta and in places such as Texas, California, Ohio and Canada. Between 2008 and 2011, while living overseas in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, she displayed her work in various gallery shows and in the famous DUCTAC (the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre) and the Bastakiya Arts Festival. Her work is featured in private collections in throughout the United States, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. She’s a proud member of C4 Atlanta, Women’s Caucus for the Arts of Georgia, and African Americans for the Arts. She is also an editorial assistant for Azizah Magazine. She has contributed articles to the Halal Consumer, LINK Magazine, and Q-News Magazine. She is currently living and working out her home studio in Atlanta, Georgia.
